Thr problem was really on windows driver only. I'm using Windows98, W2k has not this problem. The API call GetSystemMetrics(SM_CMOUSEBUTTONS) during GLUT startup returned 2 in my case, so Win98 system identified 3-buttons mouse as 2-buttons only and set number of mouse buttons system metrics
