<levelheaded>
The ext3 filesystem does not require periodic checks; those that leave
them choose to suffer fsck's, nothing is making them do so.  You could
hobble any of the "enterprise filesystems" you so confidently tout in
exactly the same way, merely by writing a shell script that every 180
days insists on fully scanning each of your filesystems when you
reboot.
