Yes you are right. This seems to be changed from the version (1.9.0) I have 
installed.

1 force-3d-pro.xml + 1 ps3-sixaxis.xml = 2 files (plural) ;-)

When I tried the gamepad then a generic configuration was picked up by 
flightgear and so I started to write my own.

I assumed from the current directory structure that this would be the best 
place.
