Hello,
You noticed that i have introduced recently , a feature with Catalina which
demonstrate that a JSBsim Aircraft is able to make difference in between
Solid Ground and Water

In order to be understandable, i have made a patch which can be used with
the c172p, i guess it is the most representative, it could be interesting to
take acknowledge of it.
So you could noticed it is easy to do, because it use the old (very old)
features of JSBSim, nothing new (was only needed the terrain type).

There is only a weak point, since FG don't give directly a terrain type
property, we need to include the Nasal script terrain.nas.

We could hope, that, this feature will be implemented into FG , it will be
needed more and more , not only for a JSBsim use.
The elaborated animations which will come with the use of OSG (particles and
others osg features), will want it (the dust on the ground, is not the wake
on the sea)

here the c172p update http://perso.orange.fr/GRTux/c172p-addonTerrain.tar.gz

With an animated Landing Gear Retractable the update is a bit more different.

Regards
