Hi Rod,
Of course, I
now have to get out the "MP3 for Dummies" to find out why
45 seconds of sound would take up 1.4 MG - maybe because of
256kbps/44 Hz?)
The higher the bitrate (i.e. 256kbps) the better the sound quality and the
bigger the file. You can get 2 minutes of music into less than
^¦sol:
yes, thanks! at 16kbps it only takes up 90kb for 45 sec.,
but it sounds like doo-doo on a ny street. at 32kbps
(180kb), it's sound quality improves to more like doo-doo
on a stick.
to the rest of you:
this FreeRip thing is the cat's meow (he says in his
naivete). listen to sol. it's
although I remember Heiko mentioning that his encoder would do 8), however
Yeah. Telephone quality.. Check
http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs106/stanfor4.mp3 , around 20 minutes, around 1
MB...
I think 128 kbits/sec is what people call CD quality
Hi - this isn't very fluxy but someone might be able to help -
We're putting together a Killer Rabbits website
and hope to feature a track and a few bits and pieces from the CD.
Our drummist, Allen, is having trouble with this and sends me this note
(which, frankly, doesn't mean a lot to me) -
I have tried to get some sound on the web site, but have come to a bit of a
halt 'couse I can't find a (free) utility to convert from CD to PM3 or WAV
files. I may have to just re-record a bit into .wav use that, but we
still want to convert to pm3 to offer the stuff for sale don't we ?
I think we've solved the mpg rpm problem
thanks to all who replied
and especially
Sol
who (I hope)
has provided the answer

Yes, Sol! Thanks for that bit of info. I downloaded that
utility and now I'm no longer an MP3 virgin. (Of course, I
