Right, but this doesn't solve the real problem. Look at all the
legacy apps  which rely on core font technology. These cannot
be satisfied with just cursor and fixed. Some of them have a 
very clear idea which font they want and even have this hardcoded
someplace. 
These apps exist and will continue to exist. Some of them are binary 
only and many of those cannot be fixed ie. converted to a new font 
rendering model.
