Believe it or not, I'm actually about to update the xml-fop web site.
I've been waiting for Forrest 0.6 to be released so that the changes
won't get wiped away when we switch over to it. Unfortunately the

Alt-design just uses a sparse array, constructed at END_ELEMENT. Space
savings are progressively realized as the depth of the FO Tree reduces.
Maximum consumption occurs at the points of greatest depth of the
tree, minima at the end of each page-sequence.
