is
invoked only once, before fop starts. But are u happy with the memory
perfomance now? From the commandline u should be able to run really big
documents.

You can apply some post processing programs with the generated pdf. I dont
think FOP itself generates any security levels simply because it sticks to
xsl:fo implementation.

Well we are a company who have just started doing full time work for FOP.
And RTF backend has been on my mind for a long time. Iam wondering if i
should take the plunge and do it!

you need the latest cvs, meaning above 0.18.1 . use -buf buffer_file parm
alongwith other parms. 400 pages should be ok, but bigger files will need
the fix that will come in a few days.

We are developing a fix , which works very well with large documents.
Meaning FOP will not run out of memory with *any* document however big its
size. We'll release it after a few more days of testing.

a problem reported that
if the embedded fonts are not found, FOP hangs, but I havent been able to
recreate it. If you can send me a small sample file, with the known problem,
I can be of more help. Meanwhile just wait a few more days!

Try using the latest FOP from CVS , which has some new features for the out
of memory problem. Run fop with the commandline option -buf buffer_file.
This should get it going.
