Hi there, got some problems not directly with FOP, but with using FOP and printing automatically via a print server servlet, that is written by us. I write to this group because I do not really know which group or forum could help. So this message is more a plea if someone of you knows any kind of source (web, books, people, whatever) so that I can get some background knowledge on this whole issue. Iam just looking for the best way to get into it.
We use FOP to transform xml and xslts to different output formats. For printing we use the AWTRenderer, which generally works fine. We have added the capability to renderPCL but don´t use it in routine because some XSLTs have to be fixed for this first. At first I must say that this solution is stable, and we print up to several thousand pages daily with an excellent speed and look. But now we have some problems with as it seems one of the printers drivers. It goes like this. The program is started and is running smoothly for a week, but some time like that an error like the one I put an trace (Attachement1) into the message appears, and I got no clue where to start. After that any further print on this printer (and ALL other printers that are fed by the print server) will result in the same error. It seems as if this specific printer is the problem because it always sarts with this one. The OSs Event Log (Win2kServer) throws the messages I put in Attachement2. So for me it looks like a driver problem(since we got with an older driver nice Blue screens of death at times) but I do not get it that it affects also other printers. Furthermore if I restart the Tomcat on which the Print Server is actually running, further prints just work fine. I certainly don’t get it. So I would appreciate and would be really thankful if someone could give me help of any kind on this one. Great Thanks in advance Normen (Attachement1:) [ERROR]<28-jun-2004 13:40:28> :C_FOP.Print()[Location]:null [ERROR]<28-jun-2004 13:40:28> :C_FOP.Print()[Location,Message]:java.io.IOException: Unable to print: java.awt.print.PrinterException: No printer found.
