rather than protesting like this we have to perform against M$ in a creative
way where people should know about foss and its products.

I think it is a good opportunity for nepal linux, if nepal linux can be used
instead, then this will prohibit large sum of money going out side from
nepal[which is also plus point for foss nepal to argue with nepal government
for not using windows OS]

Why not we all start something from individual's own side. wait not for

i agree with prajol
this statement could be blow up to the laymens out there "Now inside nepal
too pirated OS of M$ are to be banned by government t strictly"
which will be benifitial to foss rather than saying M$ selling his services
inside nepal with huge discounts and oppurtunitty.

Dear Subir dai and all,
Only standing against this act of the government will not solve the problem,
which btw should be done. FOSS community or any other community for that
matter, has to come up with a plan which will enable the community to give

To all,
As far as I(we) know that for performing any type of
financial transactions in any govt. office; they need to perform open
bid. And how can they sign MOU with m$ for buying their so called
genuine products? Is this legal? Can't we do sth. like in
Switzerland?
Regards,
Santosh.
I suggest to have a same type of program all over nepal by foss and its
chapters.
which will release a common manifesto from their places. program should be
informative and full of public attraction with the involvement of media
persons.

This is a challenging situation. But there are ways to confront

Hello Prabin ji and sabai,
I think Fos Nepal community should be more active and let the
government know the huge community is working for the free and open
source software which is very effective for Nepal.
We also should advocate to government and try to motivate to use Fos

This is really a difficult situation. We really need to be active on all
fronts. And as said by Pravin dai, we should seek the help from the
participants of the media workshop.
And, lets arrange a meeting this weekend to discuss more about the things we
can do about the situation.

appeal under Freedom of Information Act to know about the details of
the MOU. :)
