Raino, I saw your question on IRC with Bob, here is the answer. To upgrade to 1.4.0, it's best to upgrade from 1.3.0. If you are still using 1.2.x, then the safest way to upgrade is to go from 1.2.x -> 1.3.0, then immediately upgrade again 1.3.0-> 1.4.0. It might be possible to skip 1.
