List, OK, I got it. Like Warren Brown suggested, I scammed a bunch of lines from the /etc/rc2.d/S99FOXBORO script. I chopped out what looked like startup code for OpenWindows and was left with a bunch of VAR=stuff; export VAR lines. That was just what I wanted. Thank you all. Winsto

Searching for lost environment variables

List, Apparently losing things is all the rage now. I have lost my environment variables. When I start the cmdtool from the olwm desktop I get all kinds of good variables like MANPATH, etc. But when I log in as root from another machine I just get what is defined in the likes of /etc/profil
