Hi Karen, I would suggest trying Mif2Go (http://www.omsys.com) to generate your XML from unstructured FrameMaker. It is easier to customize the output you get and it should resolve the duplicate ID problem. If it works for you, it will cost you around $300 US. Structured FrameMaker is fine,

It is absolutely a problem with cutting and pasting elements. You can *not do this in FM*! (wish I could use bold). Always create new elements, and always create new chapters from templates and not by cloning old ones. This was one of the first things I was warned about when using structured FM

I may have seen the same meeting (or even been at it). I am familiar with BlastRadius XMetal. The problem with it (and with many XML editors) is it costs money, *big* money. We happen to have a connection with Adobe in which we can get their software cheap. Anything else is just not gonna fly.
