I'm arriving late to the party, but have you tried saving the file
out as MIF and then opening the MIF file? That often works for me.
Other hacks are to save it out as text (or even RTF) and then open that
file (often requires retagging or indexing, but sometimes that's the

If you're using a copied or renamed or otherwise recycled book file,
you're probably picking up information from it in the TOC you're
creating. Have you tried creating a new book file and adding the new
document file to it, then adding the TOC and generating? What results?

It's possible that your PDFs are set to open in either
* Default viewing mode, and the default view setting for your Reader or
Acrobat is set to Continuous, which allows scrolling across partial pages
* Continuous viewing mode

It's not freeware PDF Writer though. I never had a problem all these days;
since this morning the TOC is posing to be a big problem in the PDF file. I
follow the exact same method that you have suggested below.
