Hi Framers:
I am running FM8p177 on Vista Prof and we are all becoming best of friends.
This is an unstructured document problem, namely I am using a table format,
no headings, two columns and two rows as a stable placeholder for a long
sequence of graphic images, each with a dedicated text.

Jeremey speaks with much truthiness! Fulsome truthiness.
Mention the cost of maintenance to keep it working correctly, and the
rate, and you may indeed get them to recant this heresy! Or get a
lucrative gig.

Adrianne, I have had good results with CATIA files that have been
saved/exported in the .cgm file format. I import the .cgm files into
FrameMaker.
You can unlock the imported art in FrameMaker and edit it if you need
to. Most of the time it does not need any touchup.

Is there anyone knowledgeable about creating EDDs for structuring FrameMaker
documents? I've created an EDD to give structure to legacy documents, but I
can't get my sections to work (they're all taking on Heading1 formatting - no

HI All,
I thank you for your suggestions, however...
I am not at liberty to change the workflow of the docs.
Since many engineers use the same FM files to update the various info in the
files, the Visios must remain embedded OLEs (as Art rightfully corrected me)

I am using Unstructured FrameMaker 8 on Windows XP. I also have Acrobat
8 Standard.
I have several wiring diagrams in DWG format that I need to import into
a FrameMaker file. Because of the size and detail of these diagrams,
they must be printed on Ledger (11x17) sized paper. I print the drawin

Hey folks,
Is there any way where you can create an edd/dtd in which the
possible
child elements of a specific parent element is base on the type of
attribute selected?
Thanks.

I have a series of hypertext links in my document with this form:
openObjectId :2 1003728
I like these kinds of links because I only have to worry about one end of
the link; in other words, I don't need two markers for each link. These work
nicely with MIF2Go because it can use the paragraph id
With us, it really depends on the type of manual.
We have chapters, sections and paragraphs, all consecutively numbered,
Chapter, Section and Paragraph (which we control by using numbered
lists). We never use any symbols for sections, and I don't think
symbols are used for this by ATA, FAA or EASA
I would second Richard's recommendation. I would also add that when I
have printed Visio files to PDF in the past I often get strange
printing problems show up (depending on the version of Visio). These
have been lines that appear in the printed output, text that truncates
or disappears, fo

I convert Visio drawings to a windows metafile and import them by
reference. I've never had a problem with that.
