Hi Nancy
1. Open your Character Designer and make sure your cursor is not in the
text. You can do this, for example, by clicking outside the text frame. You
will then have "as is".
2. No need to create several character tags. Just choose Format > Document >

Whatever documentation you create is best saved on dedicated master or
reference pages in the files themselves, so there's no likelihood of
losing documentation that's in a separate file.
You can use the hyper-click (Ctrl+Alt) on cross-references to move
from one document in a book set to another.
Hi Tracy
I don't know whether your "structured Frame" files will be DITA XML topics?
If so, you can use MIF2Go to convert your Word docs to DITA, via FM. The
process goes like this:
1. Open your Word file in FrameMaker and save it as an FM file.
2. Choose File > Save using MIF2Go > DITA.
At the end of an internal project, I usually write a short document that
explains what I've done. This lets me record the reasons for my
decisions, and highlight any unusual features that may need special

Yep, I know it's possible to write something up. Have done so for years.
I'm asking if anyone has developed any tools to assist in describing a
template. Spreadsheets, forms, and so on.
Thanks in advance, if anyone has ever stumbled across (or developed) such a
tool.

Suddenly my bullets look like rectangles set on end.
I cannot think of any change that I made to frame recently.
Our IT department did update some drivers recently, so a print dialog would
display fully.
That's about it.
I have Frame 8.0p277 on Windows XP.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Pau

I tend to do the same as Jim. I keep a clean master of the template, and
in there, document the styles, how to use them, and why. It doesn't have
to be an exhaustive description--just whatever you think someone else
will need if you are hit by the proverbial bus.
Yes, it's a bit time-co
