Hi Tammy,
A section is below a chapter (that is: a chapter can contain sections, not
the other way round), it's a nested structure.
To us this you have to insert a folder in the book and put your section
files in that folder. The folder is your chapter and can have a chapter
number ($chapnum)
I would highly recommend Bernard's book "FrameMaker: A Hands-On Guide to

Hi everyone,
Has anyone else had the following issues.
I am having an issue with FrameMaker 9 and Windows 7 (both have all their
updates). I am unable to select the Paragraph Designer icons and the edits you
make at that point are not saved. FM9 stops "responding" and/or crashes and

Hi Cathy,
I did a quick test, and I see what you mean. FM's native document compare
function in 9.0 is not very robust when it comes to structural changes in
tables.
Possible solution:
If you save your docs as PDFs, you can compare those side-by-side in Beyond

I don't do what you are doing. My user base is internal and we read
their windows login.
it may be that there are anonymous login creds that you can set
up,..I'd be shocked if there weren't. I just know that I'll often
send a link to a SP doc to an internal and they won't be able to
access it til

To add to this, I run 8, 9, and 10 on a single machine. The only tough thing
for me is double clicking a newer file if my default is
set to open with an older version. However, Win7 does a nice job of letting me
quickly choose my default application.

I've got a paper and some sample docs to get you started. A bit of a DITA
backgrounder is available in a DITA primer. I also have
sample chapters from my FrameMaker book that walks you through using FM and
DITA. Start here:

We got around that by using Volume numbering instead.

Hi Rick,
Sounds like a plan - thanks for getting back to me on this. I won't go off list
yet, as others may be interested or have more comments (apologies if you get
this twice, therefore). If we can crack it, though, I would be definitely
interested in a FrameScript.
