Hello. My group is getting FrameMaker 10 after having worked with
FrameMaker 6 for many, many years. I was curious about the installation of
the Adobe PDF Creation Add-on. Should we not install that? I ask because I
was pointed to this by a colleague: forums.adobe.com/message/3874452.

If you've already got the full version of Acrobat Distiller, then you shouldn't
install the headless version that ships with standalone copies of FM.

From our experience, if you are using Acrobat to create and modify PDFs
outside of FrameMaker, it could be disabled by FrameMaker's internal
distiller installation.

You can't safely install Acrobat and the PDF Creation Add-on on the same
computer. It will cause conflicts and problems. Install Acrobat only. It
has more features.

FM10 apparently deleted the TOC file and created a new one, reverting
some of the settings, such as page numbering, to defaults. I've had
this happen a few times with FM10.
Good idea on printing the PDF, given the potential problems with
changing printers.

I can't speak to FM10 specifically, since I installed it as part of
TCS 3.5, but I can't count how many times I've had to reinstall
Acrobat Standard / Pro after installing FrameMaker.
