I have seen this original post and the follow-up responses and wanted to
clarify a few points.
(1)FrameMaker absolutely does not support graphic transparency as that
particular term applies to the Adobe imaging model and PDF versions beginning
with PDF 1.4. For that matter, neither do P

Hi Pat,
Try making a PDF of the document. The transparency may not show in

So when you save as PDF or print you see the same white square you do
on screen in FM10?

It explains that the image needs a clipping path.
I also found something that said setting Fill to None doesn't work with .eps.

The graphic has a preview image but setting Fill to None didn't help. (I
printed the page to be sure.)
Too bad because that seemed like such an elegant solution.
Thanks.

FrameMaker doesn't render EPS graphics. It displays the embedded
preview bitmap if there is one, otherwise a blank box. So as Rick
says, you need to generate a PDF to tell if the transparency is OK.
Hi Pat,
Try making a PDF of the document. The transparency may not show in
FrameMaker, but it may print/PDF fine.

Hi Framers,
This is more of a curiosity than anything. I was browsing the index in a
book last night and I noticed that at the end of page ranges, common numbers
are suppressed. For example 244-7 instead of 244-247 and 138-41 instead of
138-141. Is this simply to save space, or is there some kind

Saving the doc doesn't seem to change the indicator either.
Any idea what might be happening, other than a bug in FM?

Go to File > Preferences > Alert Strings and see if the "File contains
