Hmmm ... not sure I know why, but my C:\Program Files
(x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\Documents folder is empty (?)
I will have to see if I can find the original disk - may have been a download
instead, but I would expect the documentation to be in there.

Hmmm ... are the FM files or the fonts remote? I.e.,
ts remote? I.e., on a network drive
somewhere?
You could be seeing delays in file retrieval and font access playing a role
here ...

The MIF wash certainly sounds worth a shot!
I've also noticed that appearance of the warnings is unpredictable.
Sometimes these files will open with warnings, sometimes without--even
after not making any changes to the files themselves (closed without
saving).
Thanks all,

Even easier:
Look inside the Documents directory within your FrameMaker installation
directory and you should find UserGuide.pdf.

The last gasp method is to saveAs Mif and search for whatever font name is

Rick is correct. I consulted internal engineering just to be sure: Tooltip (or

supported by Hotspots in HTML.

Hi Karen,
The missing fonts could be located in several places, like "empty" text lines

If you are certain you have only the fonts you wish in your para and char

Here's an interesting twist on this, which happened to me personally.
I had a couple of files that in a large multi-author specification document
that persistently gave me unavailable fonts messages, even after opening and
saving the files with the "remember missing font names" option turned off
Simplest thing to do is a MIF output and check that file (using a text editor
or grep) to find the unused font(s) ... they can hide in all kinds of places. :)
I have even seen documents where the writer made the text color "white" instead
of deleting it - invisible on the screen since the backg

I double-checked all our table styles and master and reference pages. The
font list in the Fonts pod/palette did not change for any of them, and any
text or cell I clicked showed the correct font(s) in the paragraph
designer. Even mapping tables.
I could just turn off the warnings, but my goal is
to once-and-for-all
eliminate inconsistencies in these files! If there really is a rogue font,
I want to remove it.

I did a test with this by creating a hotspot in FrameMaker and saving the
document to PDF. The hotspot is converted to an Acrobat Link object. As far
as I can see, Acrobat Link objects don't have a tooltip property. You can
see this by creating a Link by hand with the Link tool. I don't see any

Remember - fonts can lurk in graphics too - check the FM console for the font
name that's coming up missing and then save the file as MIF and check it over
to find the offending font name.
