Greetings,
I have a paratag H1 Chapter with autonumber format "S:Chapter " and a
corresponding paratag HA Appendix with autonumber format
"S:Appendix for appendices (without the quotation marks, of course). :)
When I place several chapters and appendices, each of
which begins with this parat
don't find
their next paratag.
Sigh . either I'm missing something very obvious, or something's rotten in
Denmark. And I like Denmark!
Best to all,
Elchanan

Hi Elchanan,
It works for me with FrameMaker 8 and Windows 7. Make sure the Next
Paragraph Format exists in the document; if it doesn't the tag won't be
applied.

Greetings,
Win 7, FM 8. I use the Next Paragraph Tag setting in the Para Designer, and it
just doesn't work. I can set the setting, but when I
press "Enter" at the end of a paragraph, the new paragraph always has the same
tag as the preceding one, regardless of this setting.

Hi Linda
What formatting do you have applied to your variables? There's a bug that has
this effect for xref formats, that makes them unconditional in some
circumstances. I'm wondering if you're seeing something similar.
Conditional text on variables works fine for us in FM10, so it's not a

Used to be that you could restore FrameMaker to its defaults by
closing the application, deleting or renaming maker.ini, and
restarting. Does that still work in FM11?

I began to wonder whether some programmatic file of FrameMaker had been
corrupted. Robert Lauriston suggested "refreshing" (my term) \ maker.ini.
So, I found a separately-saved version of my \ maker.ini and replaced the one
that FrameMaker was using.
All is well again.

I recall hearing (about 10 years or so ago, things may have changed), that
a lot of Microsoft's documentation was written in FrameMaker, not Word,
because Word couldn't handle what they needed to do. That always amused me.
I wonder if it's still the case ...
