In e-mails from the authors, read here as pure text, ligatures such as 'fi' and 'fl' appear as 'I dunno' characters: blank squares. When pasted into FrameMaker, the ligatures render correctly. However, FrameMaker puts a word break around them: for example, double-clicking on 'flow' highlights

I don't have the original message handy, but I think the original poster was saying that at least the last three FrameMaker releases have been on an 18-month cycle. We get a new version of FM every year and a half. This was previously the case with Creative Suite software, too. Mike Wickham
