We, too, generally have the View PDF... checkbox selected. At Adobe's
request, I have supplied them with a sample file (and resulting PDF) that
displays this problem.

Yeah, I also got a request - am glad to see that Adobe people are watching this
group and asking for input to fix stuff.
I have sent extracts from two PDF's generated from the same book using Save As
PDF and Print to Adobe PDF showing the differences and issues. Cannot send

Do you have the checkbox at the bottom of the Import Formats dialog checked
(Other format/layout overrides)?
And of course, make sure the correct file to import from appears at the top,
and the formats you are importing are checked.

But that checkbox shouldn't be necessary! You should be able to update a
paragraph tag's settings without removing all overrides from the document.
