Desktop publishing software of all makes have been using Master Pages far longer than since 2008. That patent would be very difficult, if not impossible, to enforce. This is a case where the patent office did not sue its due diligence in awarding the patent, IMO. -Dan From:

Agreed. This is not a legal opinion, but in my limited expertise, it (the patent) would be likely invalidated due to prior art, based on prior heartbeat. I doubt the patent holder will try to sue for these claims since an invalidation on a few claims would cast doubt on the other claims in the
