Hi Salome,
I can use FrameMaker's Character Palette to insert a special character in
text, but I can't use it to insert a special character in an equation. And
Alt + 238 gives me the standard epsilon character; I need the lunate
version.

Maybe you need to install a font with that glyph? The docs refer to
Mathematical Pi and Universal Greek.
If you have a font with that glyph, your fonts could be corrupted somehow.
