Yes .. would be good to be able to disable this "feature" (despite this
not being a recommended workflow). I assume this person realizes that
any cleanup must be repeated the next time the content is updated. I'd
suggest trying to automate this cleanup process, since they are probably
Hi Scott and Lynne,
It actually happens "live"; when you scale the image, the anchored frame
shrinkwraps to the imported image. My client has created a composite FrameMaker
document from his ditamap and is formatting that for print, including scaling
images, adding some FrameMaker objects, etc.

Scott,
What happens if you put a rectangle of the desired aframe size with
no border and no fill in the anchored frame? Will that hold the desired
space? Also, can you create the aframe with all desired objects in
another document and paste it where it's needed?

Hi Rick...
Do you mean a FM binary file? (A composite file could be XML or binary.)
While it would seem that you can use DITA as the model for a structured
FM binary file, it's really not a good idea. There are a handful of
areas (like this) that it's assuming you're working in XML, and will
Hi Scott,
Thanks. I get the rationale. But my client is working on a composite
document and is sticking more stuff in some of the frames. It is not an
ideal workflow, but you should have the option to turn the automatic
resizing off if you want to.

Hi Rick...
This is standard operation when editing DITA files. Does it not happen
for you as well? There is no "setting" it's just the way it works. The
rationale for this is that there's no "frame" element in DITA, just
"image" .. so the anchored frame should track to the size of the image,
Hi All,
I have a client that is using structured FrameMaker 2017 with DITA. When he
scales an image, the anchored frame automatically scales to the image. Is
this a setting that I am not aware of?
