One of the platforms I've come across during my research is Smashwords (
http://smashwords.com). Per there site, they take care of the conversion
among the different deliverables if you use their guide for publishing. I
haven't worked with them yet, so I don' know how well the process works.

You can use the hex code \x12 where ever you want the thin space to appear.
I've got an old version of the Windows Character Sets if you want it...I
believe it has remained consistent over the years although I wouldn't lay
money on it!

I've actually done this different ways (in 7.x), depending on what the
desired "look" is. One way was to create a paired set of tags: one holds the
graphic, the other the alert text.

When you generate the LIst, there is an option to turn on hyperlinks (it is
available on the "Set Up List of References" window where you selected the
option of Imported Graphics"
