BTW, the keyboard shortcut for screen refresh is Ctrl+L (unless this is
something they made go away in recent versions...).

Thank you very much to everyone for your advice and help. The problem seems to
be resolved now. And the award goes to . . . Louise Kaufman for predicting
that I had an extraneous Frame somehow born underneath my law-abiding text
flow. I had to temporarily reposition the main flow Frame to al
Save as MIF, open the file in a text editor, and delete the
end-of-document character. Or delete the whole problem section and
re-create it after you open the MIF and save as FM.

Have you tried refreshing the screen? Is the extra text there if you print to
PDF? FM has some problems dealing with screen refreshing sometimes and this may
just be an example of that. (You can change the screen magnification to see if
that 'c
I haven’t looked at FM for some time, but I suspect that random “end of
document “ character is the key. I’ve experienced a similar issue a long time
ago.
Try opening a new document and then copying and pasting paragraph by paragraph
from the corrupted document to the new one, but do NOT copy
.)
