On two similar workstations with similar setups, FrameMaker crashes when trying
to save two of seven files as XML files. Get same results with both files when

And they still validated??? They shouldn't have;
that would be a bug in the validator

I'm really reaching here because I only used FM8 for a short time, but did you
try validating your XML files before you saved?
