Hi Everyone,
Are you all aware that Mac the Ripper was rereleased and rebuilt from the
ground up in early January of this year? Its available for $40 and
supports 10.6.5 or older. Its a complicated process to buy it and then
get the copy removal code from the forum, but this new version works j
Oh!
That's a great idea Todd!
Thanks for sending out the great idea.

FCP may or may not work... But using the BlackMagic Media Express capture
software that came with the device will work for sure. You can capture it
as a Quicktime and then open it in FCP after.

Hi Gene,
I believe the one Warren suggested is the same as you are doing (output to a
monitor) you want the ³recorder version² which is here:

Hi Gene,
The HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter is an output not an input device. For
importing HDMI via thunderbolt, check out some of the blackmagic products,

There are external cards like the BlackMagic Intensity line, or their

Will the filmmaker feel the film has an unfair chance at you festival?
Yes, they may feel that. You in fact will want to see the finished

and take out the drive.
They will put the drive into one of their own machines... And it may power

Hi Kevin,
I would use ProRES HQ. Although the source material is in DV, you will
find, surprisingly enough, that although ProRES can¹t ³improve² the image
that is already there, it actually does make the image look better, by not
requiring it to be compressed over and over and over again on all
Why use a potter¹s wheel when you can get something manufactured out of
plastic?
Film will be for the potters, and video will be for the plastics of the

Okay, perhaps this might add a bit more perspective.
I doesn't matter how many stops video or film may have. It doesn't matter
how indistinguishable the two may "look" (I assume as a digital file on a
computer, or monitor not projected on their intended format in a theatre).

I think Tim was confused and didn¹t realize that you always have your links
as part of your digital signature and that the links don¹t have anything to
do with your post and are not related to ³making film.²
