-Alex This *Thursday March 5th* at 7:30pm, Millennium Film Workshop is excited to welcome filmmaker *ROSS MECKFESSEL* to present a survey of his own work from the past five years; from the hand-processing and optical printing of *untitled (I)*, the puzzle structure of *Cheryl*, the diaristic making-of document Invocation of *Invocation of Uzi*, the intricate in-camera editing of *untitled (times for)*, the simple lyrical single-strand *Gita*, to newer work like *The Golden Hour* which draws complex connections between place, pop culture, and classical sculpture. Concluding the program will be an excerpt from his newest work-in-progress *A Century Plant in Bloom (For Ingrid and Roberto)* which is an extension of his interests in pop music and experimental structures. All films are New York premieres. Many one-of-a-kind artist made prints and film originals to be screened. He works primarily in Super 8 and 16mm film, often utilizing appropriated images, fragmented narratives and pop music to create films that emphasize materiality and filmic experience over linear storytelling. His films have screened internationally and throughout the United States including at CalArts, Onion City Film Festival, and The 100 Dollar Film Festival where he was awarded best 16mm film.
