Hey, does anyone here still have a use for open reel audio tape?

If not some form of actual analog art recording, maybe some kind of sculptural
thing, or a hipster method for tying up git packages… or something…

I’m clearing out some storage and I’ve got 28 7” reels. 17 un-opened boxes of
Scotch 250 (1200 ft.) and 11 boxes of lightly-used Maxell UD 35-90 [1800 ft.].
The storage area wasn’t climate controlled :-( but all the tapes were in
plastic bags inside the paper boxes, so I’m guessing they’re OK. (I no longer
have a working reel-to-reel deck, so I can’t check their actual condition.)

Anyway, rather than just chuck them out, I thought I should offer them them
here - FOR FREE, of course as long as you’re in the SF Bay Area and can come
get them in Daly City (contact free, naturally). I’d also be willing to ship
them elsewhere for for cost, but that might be more than they’re worth, unless
you have a special need… [mass-producing tape-bow violins? thumb-on-capstan
phase-shifting on 20 decks simultaneously in real time???]

If you know anyone not-on-this-list who might want the tape do let them know…

Contact me off list. Thanks.

PS:

Oh yeah, if anyone in the Bay Area has a working reel-to-reel deck I could
borrow the use of, I have a few of my own old tapes I’d like to dub to digital
[which I can’t afford to pay a professional service to do…] A few hours worth
at most. Again, contact me off list…
