The soundhead is reading only intensity, that's all it does. The faster there is a change in intensity, the faster the output of the soundhead changes. It's just a photocell sensitive to only one color of light, looking through a narrow slit. In the case of a variable-area track, this means tha

Dear...gang, I have a couple of questions about exposing an image onto 16mm optical track and a search in the FW archives didn't turn up too much. I've always assumed that B&W stocks, preferably reversal, render a more contrasty image which produces bolder sound, but is this correct? I'm curious
