I've been involved in organising Japanese experimental filmmaker/artist
Takahiko Iimura's visit to Amsterdam. Considered a key figure in Japanese
experimental film, Takahiko Iimura is a pioneer in expanded cinema, video
art and film/video installations in Japan.

“To review all of Iimura’s work is an important occasion for all who are
concerned with the development and pleasures of cinema as an art” (Jonas
Mekas)

Takahiko Iimura will present a selection of his experimental films on 16mm
and perform *White Calligraphy Re-Read* (1967/2014), which will be followed
by a Q&A.

*20 October (Mon) 18:30 at Rongwrong (Amsterdam)*

A preview event will be held at Rongwrong, Amsterdam. As well as presenting
his collaboration with Ankoku Butoh dancers with an extract of his film *Anma
(The Masseur) *(1963), a performance of *Screen Play* (1963/2014) and a
"performative conversation" that incorporates the Japanese concept of MA
(intervals) will take place. The event is *fully booked* but you can read

His previous visit to the Netherlands was back in 1969 as part of his
six-month tour of screenings around Europe! This visit is supported by the
Japan Foundation.
