Some interesting updates.
So it seems that it may not be the kernel that's crashing (yet) but the X
server in combination with the kernel.. basically the behavior that I'm
experiencing can be repro

Yes ! WITHOUT_MODULES in /etc/src.conf already does the same as my
DUD_MODULES, & WITHOUT_MODULES is lots smaller.

More and more users are attaching to this issue, has anyone an hint to this
