Trouble booting a SMP kernel

2003-11-06 Thread Scott R. Sewall
I need a little help diagnosing a problem booting a 5.1-RELEASE SMP kernel. The GENERIC kernel boots just fine. When I boot a GENERIC kernel with SMP enabled the boot fails early in the boot process. The text from the console is below: Programming 16 pins in IOAPIC #0 IOAPIC #0 intpin 2 - irq

Cannot mount cdrom: device busy error on 5.1-RELEASE-p2

Some ports not -current compatible?

I tried soliciting ports@ and questions@ for answers to these questions, but no answers were volunteered which leads me to believe that these issues may be specific to -current. I'm hoping someone can give me a clue as to what the problem is or at least give me a pointer (have searched

No sound in -current?

2003-03-28 Thread Scott R.
Hello, I just updated my system last night around 8 PM PST and today I have no sound. XMMS says it's playing music and I can see that it thinks it's playing something, but I am hearing nothing. Same deal with RealPlayer and every other app I try. No crackles, pops or *anything*. Just dead

CD/RW Hangs with 5.0-RELEASE

Hello, This is the first time since adopting 5.0 that I've tried to do anything with my cd drive and I'm finding it impossible to work with. First, I installed ripit so that I could convert a couple CD's to mp3's. This fails with: dagrab: read raw ioctl failed at lba 0 length 12:
