Greetings,
APM BIOS support will likely be removed from FreeBSD for FreeBSD 13. This
was once quite important for LAPTOP users. However, it is now no longer
relevant. It stopped being supported around the time that ACPI started to
be released for laptops. This was around the Pentium 200MHz laptop

Hi,
I'm wondering how I should handle APM now that ACPI has basically
taken over power management responsibility.
It seems I still need to configure APM so that /dev/apm is there and
battery monitoring utilities like the GNOME battery_applet can work.

Under 4.3, apm works ... after a fashion on my Fujitsu lifebook.
Suspend and resume work and the battery status is available. I also
find that the non-cardbus pccards work, after a fashion.
There are interactions, though. One particularly gnawing one is that

Hello,
I have a some problem of APM with 5.0-current.
In the case which I type
# shutdown -p now
the system does halt or reboot( this seems to be somewhat unstable),
and never off the power of the PC.
To find the problem, I produced the crash dump and analyzed it by gdb.
The result was

Hi
I have a Compaq Armada E500 and the apm support doesnt work. It seems that
the kernel doesnt find the apm controller just that it is on the pci bus. I
am using freebsd 5.0-20001112-current and have tried with both the generic
kernel and my custom kernel. in the kernel configuration I have

I've gone ahead and updated GENERIC with this fix.

In short, the clock stops during suspend time...
This is on a VAIO Z505SX running current from Nov, 8th.
Any idea when this will be fixed?

Hi,
I wish to merge UNIX domain socket feature to pccardd from PAO. This
makes pccard related PAO3/ports such as gxcardmon work. This means
you can control your pccard from GUI based application.
It requires introducing inactive state to cardstate in the kernel.
This state is "the card stays in
Hi,
I added output of per battery information to apm(1). To obtain this
information safely, I propose new ioctl APMIO_GETPWSTATUS.

If there is no objection, I'll commit this next week end.
Thanks,

Hi,
I worked apm debug print cleanup to avoid re-build kernel with
APM_DEUG (this kernel option seems unavailable for now) for obtaining
debug messages on apm.

The debug flag can be controlled by sysctl interface and loader
