But it's not related to that caused by the NMI,

ATAPI drivers. hmm - SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched!
does not appear ... what this ever means.
the previos kernel as of yesterday had:
IP Filter: initialized. Default = pass all, Logging = disabled
SMP: AP
aeh - forgot to say ... it is reproducable - it can't boot
And the kernel-gdbtrace isn't very useful :(
