SATA is supposed to support hotplugging, but I tried it with the nforce4-ultra and the kernel (FreeBSD 7.0 amd64) hung. :-( Of course you connected disks through a SATA backplane, which performs all the management.. Management? What management? umount swapoff (and allow time for i/o)
