Back out parts of the r366375 that had nothing to do with staging or fixing
the build on -CURRENT. This restores Makefile sanity and diff clarity with
r357486. (Fixing the build without GCC would be attempted separately.)

I'm trying to use dbeacon with SSM. Unfortunately I'm getting following
error(s):
Aug 28 08:32:01.657728 Failed to join SSM (S,G) where S = 194.80.134.18/32860,
reason: Invalid argument
Such error is generated for every SSM source. Do you have any idea why is that?
