This is not true anymore, we removed all of the local patches. If you don't

Yes, unfortunately clang build is currently broken.
This is why we switched the port back to gcc by default until we figure out
how to handle all the different clang && base version combinations...

Under 9.0-RELEASE i386 the latest pkg from ports almost always crashes
on me when running make install in a port directory.

There seems to be an issue with most of the x11-font ports, fonts.dir
and fonts.cache are not handled correctly.

Chromium does not need any hack to compile, what i don't know is the
state of devel/google-perftools on CURRENT.

I am at work right now but from a quick look dixRequestPrivate seems
to be removed from xserver somewhere between 1.8 and 1.9 branch.
