portupgrading of p5-version over NFS fails

Hello, FreeBSD 10.1-STABLE (r274583), latest ports (374843). I'm trying to upgrade perl5-5.16 to perl5-5.18 using portupgrade. As per /usr/ports/UPDATING, 'portupgrade -o lang/perl5.18 -f lang/perl5.16' fails with the following error: Writing Makefile for Cwd == Your Makefile has been rebuilt.
