End of Story. I recompiled cups without LIBUSB and the 7.2 servers can now print. Such a simple solution still makes me think that a note in ports/UPDATING could be a real time saver. I want to thank Matt, Gary, Steve and Brian for their help. have a great weekend, ed Quoting Matt Dawson
