The ruby-gnome stuff is due for an update. I've got a patch here:

Not included in that diff is the removal of these ports:
devel/ruby-gconf2
devel/ruby-gnomevfs
devel/ruby-libg

a .diff to patch something myself.

The machine is still alive. Killing X with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and
re-running it works until the next lockup.
System updated as described in /usr
portmaster.rc:
# cat /etc/portmaster.rc
DONT_SCRUB_DISTFILES=yes
NO_RECURSIVE_CONFIG=yes
NO_BACKUP=yes
Will NO_RECURSIVE_CONFIG=yes work for gnome update?
I do not use OPTIONS (config) and my /var/db/ports/* is empty as I always
have BATCH=yes in my make.conf, so it is very easy for me to use
