to install 5.8.
I want this to fatal out, so I know to build from port, not use package.

I'm having a problem automounting a large (298gb) usb hard disk.
I use Xfce and have thunar set up to automount via hal. This works fine for ufs
formatted usb disks and small fat usb disks.
But it won't mount my 298gb disk, failing with the error:
mount_msdosfs: /dev/msdosfs/ELEMENTS: Disk too

I am attempting to redo a Gateway GT5220 PC. The CPU is recognized as:
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ (2009.16-MHz 686-class CPU)
Now, would it be advantageous to set the CPU type in the
'/etc/make.conf' and possibly '/etc/src.conf' files.
According to the "/usr/share/exampl

I'd like to know more about this : )
So setting optimize compiler flags is only useful for userland stuff ?

I've got a machine here running 7.2 which I want to upgrade to 8.0 but
looking at the root slice it is woefully small:
$ df -h
FilesystemSizeUsed Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/ad4s2190M146M 29M84%/
devfs 1.0K1.0K 0B 100%/dev
/dev/ad4s4129G
Hi,
I gonna recompile kernel for my core2 CPU , so i'd like to pass some
flags to gcc.
Kinds of "-march=core2" , i tried to modify /etc/make.conf
e.gCFLAGS += -march=core2 -O20 -ffast-math -mfpmath=sse
But it fails .. bad arch switch , core2 cpu is not supported ?
And is

Hi all,
I have just upgrade my FreeBSD server from 7 to 8. Everything seems to be
working OK, except the Atheros-based wireless network card, which I had
configured as an access point and which worked fine under 7 for several
years.
The command:
# ifconfig ath0 up
works fine, but anything els
