Hi,
when installing OpenLDAP from ports on a 4.9 i386
machine, I got the following error:

Hello,
in my firewall I have a sendmail relay for a couple of
mailservers downstream inside my protected network--a
mail switch of sorts.
Now, I just had to restart the firewall and now I have
several dozens of process that look like

Hello,
(sorry for the OT but I really don't know of a better
place for my enquiry. Really)
I'm looking for a little program to help me download
files across extremely unreliable links and/or
unstable systems. I'd like something to keep trying
until the file is downloaded, or until h3ll freezes
Hi,
I've been toying with my test FreeBSD server
(4.7-RELEASE-p3) to try to set up a plain old PPP
server. I'm at a point where the modem answers, the
connection goes up (i.e. the caller gets an IP number)
but there's no traffic.
Below you can find the files I changed in order to get
that setup
Hi,
ok, this is another wacky question. I have connected
two subnetworks to my FreeBSD router to the internet.
By design they shouln't be able to communicate between
them--which I have done with IP Filter.
What I'd like to do now is to make a TCP proxy/relay
on my firewall/router. For instance,
Hi,
the following messages that I just saw in my logs mean
that my IDE hard drive is almost hosed right (at least
a bit)?

Hello,
I'd like to make my own modification to FreeBSD, but I
really don't know where to start. This is what I want
to do:
After doing a shutdown (no APM nor ACPI) FreeBSD tells
me that the system is ready to be powered down. I'd
like to add a (configurable) timeout to this final
system notice
Hi,
Does shutdown -r now reboot the machine without
APM?
yes it does. And it can set for a specific time if I
use something other than now :)
But I need it for other purposes. Let me see if I can
explain this.
I'm using a real dumb UPS, which can signal FreeBSD
that not only the AC's gone,

that's kernel turf right?)
Hi,
Is that 'check init' or 'hack init'?
Um... at this moment make that 'check'. Hopefully I
can change it to 'hack' in the future :)

I might just alter shutdown so it took an
additional argument to -r along the lines
of shutdown -r [when-die]

Great!
How and where to do this? I don't know.
Not so great ;)

Hi,
I can't send email to the FreeBSD lists because my DNS
configuration is hosed--the bit from my ISP, not my
own bind :)
Anyway, is there a site that could tell me what the
nameservers outside my network see for my domain?
Best regarads,
Carlos.
Hi,
I have several files on /usr/ports/ of the form
#cvs.cvsup-n.1 (for example, #cvs.cvsup-14872.1)
Can I delete those files? (it seems to me they're from
several interrupted cvs updates I've had in the past,
but don't know for sure.)
Best regards,
Carlos.
