Did you enable apm in /etc/rc.conf?
What do you get when you execute the following?
apm -s
If you get a 0 (zero), then I don't think apm is enabled at bootup. See
failed: AE_NO_ACPI_TABLES
I have no idea what that means, but I assume that it has something to do
with the problem I am experiencing. Perhaps someone might have some idea
what is happening and how to correct it.

Im not sure what to google for, so Im checking here to see if any other
FreeBSD users experience this.
Every now and then my emails that I send contain extra characters like
=2D and =46
I have no idea what is causing it, and Im hoping someone on here can direct me
to something on the net to help
I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question, but I figured
I might as well start somewhere.
I am presently running BSD version 5.2. I just installed the meta port for
KDE. The port seemed to install correctly. The problem is that the program
will not terminate correctly.

Try entering the following into your /boot/loader.conf file:
hw.ata.ata_dma=1
hw.ata.atapi_dma=1
hw.ata.wc=1
That solved the problem for me. Of course you will have to reboot after entering the
commands.

This may not be the best place to post this question, but I will try anyway.
I need a really full featured email program. Something along the lines of MS Outlook.
It has to be able to handle multiple identifies and several different SMTP and POP
addresses. The handling of both HTML and plain
increasing with each new
line of output.. I have been reduced to using a three finger salute to stop the
machine and get it started again.
I am running BSD 5.2 latest version. This problem has only manifested itself within
the past day.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I want to format disks that I use in my ZIP drive in either the FAT(32) or NTFS
systems. Is there anyway to make FreeBSD accomplish that task? All it seems to want to
do is use the FAT(16) system. I am now using version 5.2.

I've been using ee (don't laugh) to do all my editing on the command line.
Im looking to grow out of ee into something else.
Naturally, something that can open/edit files.
