Same problem I had last month.
What I did?
I comment out the line:
device uscanner
on my kernel and installed libUSB.
My Scanner worked for 2 or 3 times and now it doesn't work anymore.
I have FreeBSD 4.10-STABLE
Scanner: USB Generic Flatbed Scanner
