I am planning to upgrade from FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE to
FreeBSD-9.1-RELEASE. With upgrade source method, it is always needed to
do the make installworld step in single user mode. But it seems to
be that single user is not required with freebsd-update method, in the
second freebsd-update install.

Rather that using the nvidia driver from the ports I had earlier downloaded
the official freebsd driver from the nvidia site, but had installed it into
the old xorg environment under /usr/X11R6.
Do I need to reinstall
. It's the more simple and
easy way for get Xorg 7.2 running on your FreeBSD 6.2 machine.
Before do just this portupgrade -a i was triying with portmanager -u -l
and others stuffs on my way, but it can't got it.

In my ports-supfile my base=/var/db and prefix=/usr. Does that mean I
should place my refuse file in /var/db/sup/ ? I am a little confused,

Is there a way to combine a desktop in a window maker? I have installed kde
and afterstep.I can use the features like konqueror on afterstep, b ut I can't
add icons to afterstep. Do I open kde first, and add afterstep after that?

I have a Linksys Wireless-B network adapter. Its model No.WPC11. I can't make
it work on freeBSD. I tried the ndis molecule like it says on the Handbook. It
turned on but I can't make it go online. Using ifconfig -a won't see it. Any
way to make it work?

I'm new to freeBSD and have window manager installed and working with firefox.
I need help setting up the icons. When I install some from the ports or
packages, I know what dictory they are in but they don't popup on the desktop
automatically like firefox did. How do I add them to my desktop?

I installed freeBSD 6.0 on my pc and kde but starting
startx
will only display a small part of the whole screen. I
tried
configuring the X11 but when I add the HorizSync at
30-107 and VertRefresh at 48-120 the screen only
diplays colors. How do I make it make kde appear with

I am attempting to stop Ipfirewall using ipf -D, but I keep getting the

Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!
I looked in /tmp and mysql.sock is not there.
Can someone please tell me what is wrong and what I need to do to
correct this?
