Probably you have your cd-rom drive plugged into your soundcard, which
means that its bypassing your operating system and sending the output
directly through the sound card. try running '#esd -trust -unix' and
see if your speakers are outputting sound. maybe its a problem with the
output plugin (
Make sure pnp operating system is disabled in your bios and pnp disabled
on your card, or maybe recompiling your kernel for pnp support...

I think the reason was on the gaim website, or somewhere. Yahoo has
just recently made a minor adjustment to their protocol which was
causing the error in gaim. I dont think it has been 100% fixed yet, and
until then, i went ahead and installed ymessenger from
http://messenger.yahoo.com . there

doesn't support large hard-drives, freebsd does. as far as i can tell,
freebsd just doesnt get the hard drive info from teh bios. i had a 40
gig hard drive
#mount -t msdos /dev/da0s1 /mnt/blah
I think that is it. I have an Olympus D-510, and thats how it works.
For some reason, its mapped to a scsi drive. I just go into the
directory and pull out all the pictures. I know this isnt the best way,
but none of the other programs ever really wanted to
ive been trying to get java to work, installing from ports, but i keep

this, but i have no idea how. is there a way to manually apply the
patches? do i have to download the source files again (im on 28.8 dial

is there an easy secure way to mount the cdrom and other devices as a
nonroot user? if not, what are the security risks i face by installing
the package that allows this (and what is the name of the package, ive
only heard of it)
